It is actually only when standing close to the speaker that a listener can perceive a stereo dimension. Localizability of the sound sources is rather precise, but would undoubtedly be even better with crystal-clear high-ends. The speaker’s overall dynamics remain particularly precise and impactful at soft and even quiet volumes. The Google Home Max speaker is Bluetooth-compatible and can be connected to two devices at the same time. A few days ago, we saw purported benchmark results for the M2 Max chip, which teased performance gains over its predecessor. But brand new tests have leaked for the same unreleased MacBook Pro model. They show that the M2 Max will offer even more significant improvements over the M1 Max than the previous results.
The drums on this track can sound overly thunderous on speakers that boost the bass too much, but through the Home Max, you get lovely bass depth. The drums sound full, rich, and round—neither overly boosted nor weak. Yes, you can pair two Max speakers, but the price is steep and in our tests, it didn't perform well as a pair. Two Sonos One speakers, meanwhile, pair very well, cost the same a single Max, and next year Sonos will add Google Assistant too . If I had to choose straight-up between a single Max and a pair of Sonos Ones in stereo mode, I'd take the Sonos speakers for their improved soundstage. Overall, the Google Home Max is an excellent choice for those looking for a powerful TV speaker with superior sound quality and lots of features.
Its balanced mid-range makes it suitable for vocal-centric content like podcasts, but it's lacking a bit of low-bass, which can be disappointing for some music fans. On the upside, there are bass and treble adjustments available in its companion app. Compared to the more-expensive Bose SoundTouch 30, the Max blew it away.
